28th February 2008

At approximately 1645hrs, I was playing Viwawa with Julia when I felt a sudden gush of water. My whole pants got wet. I knew my water bag had burst. I got up and went to the toilet immediately to check if there's any 'show'. Called my aunt to get my husband from his department while my superior called a cab. 15mins later, our cab arrived. It was the peak hours, there was a jam. Finally at 1730hrs, Hubby and I reached KKH Delivery Suite. Hubby told the counter that my water bag had burst. But surprisingly, the lady at the counter asked us to wait as there were no bed available. We thought my labour might not be so fast as that lady looked calm. With my wet pants, we went for dinner at the food court at 1800hrs. My aunt called to ask me to drink some chicken essence and eat whatever I want to before going into labour. Haha. Cos we are restricted to eat many things after labour. We proceeded back to the Delivery Suite after dinner. There were still no bed. We decided to shop around to buy some last minute things. Bought a sandwich from Delifrance to eat before proceeding back to the DS. My family arrived at 1900hrs. Mummy brought my 'hospital bag' for me. I wasn't well prepared. Thanks to her who rushed home to get my stuffs. At 1930hrs, we did our registration for admission but still had to wait after which. We got impatient, Mummy went to the counter and demanded for a bed immediately. I was worried baby might dehydrate due to the continuous water leaking. I was wheeled into the DS only around 2000hrs. Got changed into a robe and got everything fixed up. The gynae came at 2100hrs to check on my dilation. I was 3cm dilated then. Hubby and I watched Tv while waiting for me to dilate more. First contractions started coming at 2118hrs, but it was still bearable. I wanted to feel birth pain so I turned down Epidural then. At 2245hrs, I felt more contractions coming. They were stronger. The gynae checked on me again and I was 5cm dilated already. At 2317hrs, contractions came. They were getting unbearable. I couldn't stand it anymore. I turned pale and Hubby hurry asked for Epidural. After signing the relevant docs, the anaesthetics finally came to give me the shot.

29 February 2008

At 0017hrs, I was in severe pain. Epidural was not taking effect. I knew the shot came too late. Many people were inducing in the other rooms. The anaesthetics was too busy earlier on. The numbness haven't took effect. I felt huge pressure on my pelvis. I know I was in labour already. I told the midwife baby was coming. She checked on me and I was already 8-9cm dilated at 0028hrs. They were too slow. I couldn't wait. The pressure was too strong. I pushed by myself. Hubby saw my face colour changed. He held onto my hands tight. He told me to breath in and out and said he could see baby's head already. I pushed with all I had. Finally at 0035hrs, baby Keida POP-ed out. I felt the relieve. I forgotten all the pain at once. Hubby held my hands even tighter and kept me awake. I felt like I was going to faint. Blacked-out for a few seconds. Upon seeing our baby Keida, I gave a laugh out. Haha. The nurses cleaned baby Keida and did the necessary procedures. I heard her cries and felt that it was all that was needed to compensate the pain I went through. The midwife said Baby Keida POP-ed out in only 5minutes and was the 1st KKH Leap year's baby. The anaesthetic and midwife apologised for their wrong predictions several times to Hubby and I. I don't feel angry at all as I was too happy seeing baby Keida. She resembles so much like Hubby. Hubby smiled like never before. He didn't let go of my hands until I was sewed up. I held Baby Keida in my arms for the first time. I really can feel the greatness of all mothers. I feel like hugging my mum tight. After which, Hubby went to make phone calls to the important people to announce Keida's arrival.

Mum to be. =x
